Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Nexavium Journal of Cybersecurity and Cyberdefense provides immediate, worldwide, and barrier-free open access to its full content. We believe that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge, particularly in the critical and rapidly evolving field of cybersecurity.

As an open access journal, Nexavium does not charge readers or their institutions for access. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author, provided the original work is properly cited.

Ethical Standards

Authors must uphold the highest standards of publication ethics as established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Unacceptable practices include the falsification or fabrication of data, plagiarism, and misappropriation of work. This also extends to duplicate publication, where an author’s own previously published work is reused without proper citation.

Ethical misconduct is treated with the utmost seriousness. Nexavium reserves the right to screen manuscripts using third-party services to detect integrity issues, such as inappropriate image alteration, plagiarism, or paper mill activity. Cases of misconduct will be handled strictly in accordance with COPE guidelines.

Duties of Editors

Editors are responsible for deciding which of the manuscripts submitted to the journal will be published. They evaluate manuscripts based on their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy. Editors must ensure that all information regarding submitted manuscripts is kept confidential and that any conflicts of interest are properly managed.

Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers assist the editors in making editorial decisions and may also assist the author in improving the paper. Reviewers must treat all manuscripts received as confidential documents and must not use any information or ideas obtained through peer review for personal advantage. Reviews must be conducted objectively, with clearly expressed arguments, and solely based on human expert judgment without relying on AI-generated evaluations.

Duties of Authors

Authors must present an accurate account of the work performed and an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data must be represented accurately. Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, and the submission of the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently are considered unethical and unacceptable. Authors must ensure that all sources are properly cited and that any potential conflicts of interest are disclosed at the time of submission.

Authorship

All listed authors must have made significant contributions to the manuscript, including involvement in the drafting and revision stages, and must have approved the final version for submission.

To ensure a fair double-blind peer-review process, author names and identifying information must not appear in the main manuscript file. All authorship details must be provided separately in the Title Page document at the time of submission.

Anyone who has made a substantial contribution to the research or writing should be listed as an author. Ghostwriting is strictly prohibited. Individuals who contributed in a more limited capacity should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section, which should also be omitted or anonymized during initial submission.

Any changes to authorship, including additions, removals, or changes in author order after submission, must be approved in writing by all authors and submitted to the editorial office.

CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy)

Nexavium Journal of Cybersecurity and Cyberdefense adopts the CRediT taxonomy to clearly describe each author’s contribution to the work.

To preserve anonymity during peer review, CRediT author contribution statements must not be included in the main manuscript file. Instead, this information should be submitted as part of the Title Page or submission metadata.

Authors should select and assign appropriate contributor roles, such as Conceptualization, Methodology, Software, Validation, Writing, and others as defined by the CRediT taxonomy. Multiple roles may be assigned to each author where applicable.

Contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship should not be listed as authors but may be acknowledged appropriately after acceptance.

Authorship and 'Umbrella' Groups

For large collaborative studies conducted under a group name, at least one named individual must be listed as an author. Authors wishing to acknowledge an umbrella group should list the primary author(s) followed by "on behalf of the [Group Name]." The full list of participants may be included in the Acknowledgements section if necessary.

Originality

Submission of a manuscript implies that the work is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Plagiarism in any form, including the reuse of an author’s own work without clear citation, is not tolerated by the journal.

To maintain the highest standards of academic integrity, all manuscripts submitted to Nexavium will be checked for originality using Turnitin. The journal applies a maximum similarity index threshold of 20%. Manuscripts exceeding this limit, or those containing significant blocks of plagiarized text regardless of the overall percentage, may be returned to the authors or rejected prior to the review process. Authors are encouraged to conduct their own similarity checks before submitting their work.

Conflicts of Interest

At the time of submission, authors must disclose any financial interests, personal relationships, or professional connections that could be perceived as influencing the objectivity of the research. This includes direct or indirect funding, commercial ties, or academic competition.

A simple test for authors is to consider whether any undisclosed arrangement would cause embarrassment to the authors or the journal if it were to emerge after publication. All declared conflicts will be published alongside the article to ensure transparency.

The opinions expressed in articles published in Nexavium Journal of Cybersecurity and Cyberdefense are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Editors, Editorial Board, or affiliated institutions.

ORCID

To support transparency and proper attribution of scholarly work, Nexavium requires the corresponding author to provide an ORCID iD at the time of submission.

ORCID provides a unique digital identifier that distinguishes researchers and ensures accurate linkage of their publications and contributions. Authors who do not yet have an ORCID iD can register for free through the ORCID website.
